Deputies have arrested a suspect responsible for two brandishing incidents in the past week. On Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 3:37 p.m., deputies responded to the 5900-block of Stagecoach Road on a report of a subject pointing a rifle at people in the area.

After several hours of searching, a robbery suspect in Orcutt remains outstanding. At approximately 9:13 a.m. this morning, deputies were dispatched to a 911 call in the 1100-block of Via Alta. The suspect reportedly stole the victim's personal property, battered the victim, and fled the area prior to deputies' arrival.

Santa Barbara County Public Health Department will resume administering the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine locally, at the direction of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

The remaining COVID-19 positive inmate has recovered, and the Santa Barbara Main Jail is now clear of COVID-19 cases. The total number of COVID-19 related cases at the Main Jail remains at a total of 217. The total number of COVID-19 positive staff member remains at 118 with 117 having recovered and returned to work.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD), in conjunction with all other local fire jurisdictions, will declare the beginning of the 2021 High Fire Season for all areas of Santa Barbara County on May 3, 2021.

The Goleta Police Department will hold a DUI Checkpoint April 23, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within the City of Goleta. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests.
