Coding and Billing Compliance Statement:
The Public Health Department is dedicated to the highest standard of billing and coding compliance for the services it provides.
The compliance plan is in place to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse and to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations. The Coding and Billing Compliance Plan was created to define the scope of conduct expected of the employees, contractors and agents as it pertains to coding and billing practices. The Public Health Department maintains and values high legal and ethical standards in all professional dealings and refuses to cooperate with, or condone by silence, the actions of those who engage in fraudulent, deceptive or illegal acts.
The Patient Accounting Department handles insurance billing for Santa Barbara County Health Care Centers. Patient Accounting staff collect and process payments, audit patient's accounts to ensure correct billing, and will set up payment plans to assist patients.
