INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT PHARMACY PROGRAM

The Public Health Department Pharmacies are crucial partners of the physician and provider community in the provision of quality health care. The Pharmacy Program fills approximately 165,000 prescriptions at 3 different locations for patients each year. Our pharmacists provide counseling services on the importance of medication compliance.

The Pharmacy Program utilizes state of the art robotics and workflow techniques to increase safety and decrease wait times. The accuracy rates of the pharmacy programs has been documented to be greater than 99%

HOW DO I MAKE A REQUEST TO REFILL MY PRESCRIPTION?

By Phone: Call the number on the prescription label and follow the prompts of the Interactive Voice Response system. Using this method allows you to avoid waits at the pharmacy.

In Person at the Pharmacy: Present prescription bottle to the pharmacy staff. If refills are available, the prescriptions normally take approximately 20-30 minutes.

WHO CAN USE THE PHARMACY?

Current registered patients who are being medically managed in one of the 8 Health Care Centers may use the PHD Pharmacies. The Public Health Department Pharmacies are not open to the general public.

The Pharmacy Programs accepts Medicare Part D, ADAP, MIA, Medi-Cal, CenCal, and other state and county programs.

WHEN WILL MY PRESCRIPTION BE READY?

A pharmacy staff member will let you know an approximate time of completion when you drop off a prescription, the wait time is generally 20 minutes or less.

The Phone Interactive Voice Response will give an approximate time for your refill prescriptions to be completed and alert you if the provider needs to be notified.

If there are no refills remaining on your refill prescription, please allow a minimum of 72 hours from time of request for your prescription to be processed.

For our Franklin & Carpinteria Health Care Centers patients your prescriptions may be ordered and picked-up at your Health Care Center.
